How many sippy cups did you have tonight, sir? Just two? Everyone says that. Let me guess, you’re teething, right?

I don’t get it.

Motorcycles are skinny. That’s why they use motorcycles.

Why in the hell are they using a Can-Am?

It won’t tip over when they reach for the bag of doughnuts in the drive through

Maybe acquired via “civil asset forfeiture” or a similar thievery program.

Still weird. There’s not much of a benefit, and they needed to put a livery on it as well as radio, hard bags, lights, etc...

Edit - Can Am sells one

BCSO Sgt. Augustin Pruneda said the Spyder is being eyed as a safer option for deputies that doesn’t sacrifice the advantages of two-wheeled bikes.

Being so wide removes any advantage the motorcycle had.

How are they safer?

This makes no sense.

That’s it, looks like the same bags.

Maybe they had a budget to blow through to ensure they got funding for the next term, or maybe Can-Am had a sale.

Not sure where you are, but I saw TX plates.

https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/BCSO-testing-out-new-vehicle-7228746.php

BCSO’s first Can-Am Spyder is slated to hit the streets on April 11, and could serve as the replacement for BCSO’s current fleet of eight Kawasaki Concours motorcycles, which are up for replacement after three years of service.

BCSO Sgt. Augustin Pruneda said the Spyder is being eyed as a safer option for deputies that doesn’t sacrifice the advantages of two-wheeled bikes.

“The motor officers are geared toward traffic enforcement, so (their vehicles) need to be able to get in and out of traffic quickly,” Pruneda said. “They also have a lower profile (than patrol SUVs), so your habitual offender that is looking for cars may not notice the motor officer.”

Two of the eight BCSO motor deputies have been injured in crashes in the past year.

These things are 20" wider than the Kawasaki they want to replace it with. These things require close to 60" of road to do it with, motorcycles only need a few inches of track to travel on.

A lot of advantage is lost.

I also can’t see how they are any safer, unless their motor officers often fell over and lost balance on two wheels.

Maybe it’s getting harder to find officers who can handle a big police cruiser bike? Maybe these crash less? Or maybe someone’s brother in law is a salesbro with Can-Am?

I can’t see how they’d be less visible either - a Can-Am with three large hard cases would stick out like a sore thumb , to me anyway.
